Creating Your First Single: What to do and What not to do, a Guitarist's Guide

As I created my first single, there were multiple things that went wrong, seeing as I was only a beginner, and did not know much about the music process of recording. Now that I know more about that I can tell you what to do and what not to do.

1. Tune your guitar. I know it sounds stupid, but often times when you're a younger musician, you will skip the tuning process entirely, whether you don't have a tuner, or you just don't know how to tune in general, you should either buy a tuner or learn how to tune via YouTube. While it may sound stupid, my guitar was crazy out of tune when I first recorded. The recording ended up having a Djent sounding guitar, believe it or not.

2. Use chords. Yes, another sounding stupid little kid beginner mistake. It may sound cool with distortion on, but it is not how to do it. If it's a rock song, all you have to do is go online and learn the basic power chord shape. You only have to have two fingers.

3: Get an effective setup. I would recommend buying a microphone of sorts for recording. If you have a high budget, a RØDE NT1 or NTK would work. If you have a low budget, an AW BM-700 would work. Just a phone in general would work good, too. Have a microphone up next to your amp, which would make the guitar very easy to hear. Once you have finished recording guitar get on to drums and singing.

4: Try both types of recording. Sing into the mic, then play guitar into the mic, then drums. But you should try to play all at the same time, too, because the more raw sound might be better for your recording. Not to mention, if you are a beginner, you should record separately, then piece the audio clips together with an audio editing software, seeing as you may not know how to play and sing as well, but you should still practice singing and playing at the same time, so you could have extra experience. When it's all done, release it.

So... this was my first shot at writing a blog, or just article in general. Hope you liked it!
